Escola United has officially become a part of The Creative Championship (TCC), a privately run league in Nigeria. This move adds Escola United to the roster of 12 teams within the league. Speaking exclusively to NairaSports, Olalekan Oyinlola, the club’s chairman, expressed his enthusiasm for this new venture.
After the unveiling of Escola United alongside other clubs in Lagos, Olalekan stated that the reason for joining TCC was its openness. He said, “We are excited to join the league because of the openness of the owners. They are happy to add teams to their successful league and understand the football environment, providing world-class facilities.” He also noted, “The caliber of teams in the league attracted us, including Beyond Limits and teams with international experience. Facing such clubs in Nigeria is now possible.”
Escola United, a privately run club, aims to provide young players with opportunities to grow and showcase their talents. Olalekan explained that before the club was founded, they already had a successful secondary school competition called the Next Schools League, spanning across Ogun, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos states over the past two years. “Over 1700 talents were spotted, and we selected only the best to give them a platform to perform in the elite league in Nigeria,” he said.
Escola United is committed to balancing the education and football aspects of its team, recognizing the importance of sports and education working hand in hand. Olalekan emphasized that sports provide a chance to pursue one’s dreams, while education refines those aspirations, drawing a parallel with the college system in the USA where players go through colleges to advance their careers.
