Erelu Ngozi Adeleke Female table tennis championship gets underway

The Erelu Ngozi Adeleke female table tennis championship for female secondary school students in Osun state organized by sportsgig international, an outfit which manages athletes and sports event in conjunction with the Osun state table tennis association.

The event kick of today at the Michael and Felichia Alabi tennis court, Osogbo stadium where school from Osogbo and other part of the state were present at the opening ceremony of the championship.

The championship were supported by the office of the first lady of Osun state Her. Excellence Mrs Ngozi Adeleke.

According to Mr Olayinka Olawole who’s the chief executive officer of sportgig international said “ the purpose of the event is to give opportunities to the female athletes at the young age to discover their talents and prove to the world what they can do.

Fatimon kazeem from St James grammar school Osogbo versus Martha Oluwatukesi representing Osogbo grammar school kickoff the game which Fatimon kazeem win the match by (11-5)-(11-3) wins the two straight set.

In the second match where Zainab Omotosho from Baptist high school lost to Azeez Ifabiyi from St James grammar school by (4-11)-(2-11) win the two straight set. Kazeem Fatimon also defeated her counterpart from Anglican grammar school Adeshina Rakibat by (11-3)-(11-1) to win the two straight set.

Dignitaries present at the event are Permanent secretary ministry of sports Mr Deji Olawumi , Osun FA chairman Mr Sola Fanawopo, Representative from First Lady to of the Governor Mrs Mariam shittu, checkers custard representative Mr Yemi Adeniyi.

The championship will continue on Thursday 30th of May, 2024 and the final will take place on Monday 3rd of June, 20024 the same venue.
