Ogun State Gears Up for Gateway Games, Inaugurates Committee

The Ogun State government has taken a major step towards hosting the National Sports Festival, officially titled the “22nd National Sports Festival” but nicknamed “Gateway Games 2024” as a 29-member committee has been officially inaugurated to oversee the event.

The National Sports Festival is highlighted as a significant national sporting event fostering unity among Nigerian youth, regardless of background.

The state’s hosting rights are attributed to Governor Dapo Abiodun’s dedication to developing sports and engaging young people.

Ogun plans to not only host the festival but also participate with a strong team named “Team Ogun.”

Governor Abiodun pledges to provide the necessary infrastructure, facilities, and accommodation to ensure a successful event. Collaboration with stakeholders, modern technology, top-notch security, and high-quality medical services are promised for the safety and well-being of all athletes, coaches, and officials.

Experienced Committee Members for Gateway Games

The committee will work with the Sports Commissioner to assemble a strong Team Ogun to represent the state in various sports.

The committee comprises distinguished athletes, sports administrators, media representatives, and technical experts. Some notable members include Chief Falilat Ogunkoya and Prince Tunji Onatolu.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Prince Tunji Onatolu expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged their commitment to ensuring a smooth-running festival.
