The Head Coach for Super Eagles, Jose Paseiro has summoned Paul Onuachu to replace Sadiq Umar in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Sadiq Umar is the third striker and the fourth player that Nigeria lost to injury since their journey in 2023 AFCON.
He sustained the knee injury in Nigeria’s 2-0 friendly defeats to the Syli Stars of Guinea on Monday, January 8th, 2024.
Onuachu’s invitation is subject to approval from his Turkish club, Trabzonspor.
The lanky forward was part of Nigeria’s squad for the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt.
