AFL: Wydad defeats Enyimba in Nigeria

Enyimba face elimination from the inaugural African Football League after losing 1-0 at home to Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco in their first leg quarter final clash on Sunday.

Wydad captain, Yayha Jabrane scored the winning goal for the Red Castle from the penalty spot in the 38th minute of the encounter played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Enyimba fought hard to get back into the game but couldn’t break down the opposition defence.

The Nigerian champions were reduced to 10-men when Alalibo Somiari was sent off late in the game.

The second leg of the quarterfinal will go down next week Wednesday in Casablanca, Morocco. And the winner over the two legs will progress to the semifinal.
